Hi all,

Have had read through the forum but can't find specific answer.

What size (type) screws for fixing studs - 80mm ? 100mm etc

Should I use pilot holes, if so what size bit. Should they be countersunk.

Can I just get a self screwing screw without the need for pilots?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Most of the time if I'm screwing 3 x 2 or 4 x 2 CLS studs I'll use 5.0 x 90mm screws. With an impact driver they don't need to be piloted, but with a lower powered drill/driver pre-piloting cand and will extend battery life between charges IMHO

Screw too near the end of timber and it will split, pilot in that situation can help prevent, sometimes.
