"Stupid and white" is not a racial attack.

They didn't ask for costs because of the judge's hint. She tried to get out of the rap for throwing up in the car by claiming the driver had kidnapped her, but that didn't work because she was driven to the police station. So, quick thinking but dishonest and unnecessarily insulting to the cop. Not a racist offence, for reasons MBK has given, but certainly judging someone on the basis of his skin colour. Copper waited 10 months to complain, why? They must get much worse abuse than that everyday. As for white privilege, that is best exemplified by kneeling on a black man's neck for 15 minutes until he's dead, feeling safe in the knowledge you will get away with it.

If true, I have no idea why they didn't just pay up. Although it is actually disputed. I don't think they knew that they were being driven to a police station. As regards the "stupid" bit of the insult, I can maybe understand that as well. The PC asked Kerr why she hadn't rung 999 to report the "kidnap". Kerr told him that she had rung 999 and that the operator had said they would have to ring her back. The PC said that wasn't possible. But it turned out to be true.

But there is more to it. The abuse of process claim was valid IMO. They did bring the charges out of time and they did "encourage" plod to amend his statement to make it a better fit. I suspect your avg. Juror would feel that was a stitch up and give a perverse finding.

Would the jury have had that information? It looks like the press weren't allowed to report it until after the verdict.

I already did: graduate employment and Internships with Positive Discrimination/Action in recruitment. Here is an example of some more https://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/search?q=BAME&w=UK

Why would it be necessary to show that non white people hadn't been discriminated against, in order to make an argument that "white" oppression exists.
'Positive discrimination' is not 'oppression'...

Best you look up the term 'leveling up'...

After all, if such measures are needed it indeed proves that discrimination against 'non white people' exists and is necessary ;)

Next thing you'll be telling us is that there is no gender inequality and to say otherwise is 'oppressing' men

Christians in Newham have been asking for that for ages. They’d like to park three deep on double yellows, blocking the road during their Sunday service and have the traffic wardens give them a wide berth just like they do for Friday prayers.

You should have been the foreman of the jury

I’ve never heard of the 999 service telling someone they'd have to call them back. I’ve read several reports of the incident and trial and can’t see where the 'call back' was claimed and proved. Got a link to that?

Neither have I. This is what I read yesterday.

On the night, Kerr and Mewis told officers they had called police from inside the taxi. Officers doubted their assertion, saying they had no record of their call. The couple said the call handlers hung up on them, which Lovell said “they wouldn’t do”. In the course of the trial, however, it emerged that the pair did call emergency services and the operator said they would call back. When they did, the couple were in the police station and the call went to voicemail.

Don’t quite see why they brought a prosecution

Although I take the point if some one had said
Black and stupid all hell may well have broken loose :giggle:

There would have been a guilty verdict
Compensation would have to have been paid

The black person would have been traumatised

There would have been a task force set up who’s mission would have been to root out the cause of the remark

The mission would have been turbo charged
You forgot the riots.

'Oppress white people'?

Could you point out where 'white people' have been oppressed?

And could you tell us exactly how 'non white people' do not suffer discrimination?

I don’t find that article very credible.

For me it was a boozy night out resulting in damages to the taxi which they refused to pay for despite being able to afford to. The whole alleged kidnapping was instantly concocted and when they weren’t believed they got angry at plod.

That doesn’t take away from the fact that the charge was a fit up because standard harassment was out of time.
