My house has a floating floor, going top to bottom- weyroc, insulation, dpm, screed block and beam sub floor.

My sis wants a garage conversion, to include raising the floor to house level.

Stupid Question: can the floor be raised solely by insulation on top of dpm, topped off with weyroc? Why? Lower skill level needed? Maybe cheaper than concrete and screed?

I said it was stupid!

charliegolf, good evening.

OK I assume that the Integral garage floor is solid concrete? or similar?

Question? what is the height difference [even approximate] between present garage floor and the rest of the property?

In general yes you can place insulation direct on to a DPM

In general yes you can place the Chipboard direct on to the insulation, BUT??? the Insulation can, depending on the insulation can "Compress" and over time the surface of the floor will drop or form dips and hollows?

If the required height requirement to get the garage floor up to the general level of the house, you can fit suitable dimentioned timber bearers to support the Chipboard and infill with insulation?
