Just completed my 1st run of subway tiles, and to be fair, they look pretty good. However a word of caution to would be DIY'ers out there. The wall I was tiling on for the splashback has a bow in it, above the second course of tiles, this has caused the run to go off by a few mill in the last metre, now fortunately for me as the splashback is only 4.5 tiles deep, it still looks ok, being only 3-4 mm out, but if it had been a larger surface, I reckon it would have looked (very) significantly worse.
So just as a general tip, for DIY'ers, keep checking your alignment, it's obvious when you're drifting on normal tiles, but not so with subway tiles.
