Hello.

Can anyone recommend a product (could be commercial or a home remedy, as long as it works!) to pour regularly down the bathroom wash basin to keep the pipes clear?

It recently became almost completely blocked. The problem was solid jelly-like substance which had formed at the end of the pipe close to the wall leading outside. I don't think there was any hair at all or any other debris as I am very careful with not allowing such things to go down the plughole, so I only need something that stops the jelly from forming. I am hoping this rules out that rotten egg product!

The strange thing is, the block happened instantly! It went from water flowing perfectly normally to suddenly being completely blocked! I don't understand because the jelly obviously takes a while to build.

Thank you.

Is the pipe white - could be light encouraging the build up of a bio mat - thing/ stuff.

Thank you for the replies.

Yes, the pipe is white but it joins another pipe which then goes out a very thick wall.

Yes, there is a knuckle bend but I can't remember if the blockage was inside the bend, just after the bend or both.

I wanted to ask what I could use to prevent the build up in the first place, but unfortunately, I won't be returning to view any answers as the cookies options at this website are the worst I have ever come across in all my years of Internet use, which is a shame as I have been using this website for many many years now, but having to click nearly 60 options to object to cookies just takes the biscuit (or cookie if you pardon the pun).

There are a whole lot of options before logging in and then a whole set of options after logging in as well! I thought when I went through them all when I registered, it would remember my choice, but no, it has to be done every time I visit or log in.

I was not going to post back but felt that I had to since you have kindly gone to the trouble of replying, so I went through all the options again just to post this!

Bye everyone.
