suggestions for external render works

Hi, we are in the process of renovating a house which retains much of it's original features. I would like to remove the sand and cement render which is showing it's age in places. Can any of you plastering guys suggest what low maintenance products will compliment the house, what should I do with the corner brickwork. Would it be sacrilege to render over this also?

I'm in a quandary as to which will look nice and don't want to folk out a fortune on works and later decide I don't like it.

It looks fine to me, why do you want to remove all that render? Is it leaking? If not I would just paint it.

we had to remove portions of the render to inspect cracking of the brickwork in places. The wall ties have rusted & failed and the render on the back and side of the house has horizontal cracking every 4 courses of brick and is blown in places. No doubt the render is repairable but whilst we are renovating this was something I thought worthwhile to tackle now rather than in the future (we intend to stay here for some time!)

use weber pral m any colour you want never need too paint it

Would you retain the corner brick work, clean it up and re point it? Or render over that in a contrasting colour?

Or simply render the lot!

its your call one that one m8 keep them clean them up totel get rid or make new one's

weber is crap in my honest opionion. it attracts algae etc, yes you never have to paint it but that style of house deserves better, remove the existing render which sound like its failing anyway. replace with a 2 coat lime render (lime breathes, inhibits mould, algae and other organic nasties) and it dries a beautifull limestone colour if you get the sand right.

As for the bricks, contrast always makes for a good aesthetic or you can render those to resemble stone quoins.
