Just got home to find a large vertical sunbed in my back room, turns out the wife's hired it before our holiday.

It's got 22 x 200 watt tubes in it and is fed via two leads with 13 amp plugs, one plug feeds 10 lamps and the other feeds the remaining 12.

Am I right in thinking that'd it best if I plug one lead into one double socket in the room and the other lead into another double socket in the room to try and ballance the load accross the ring seeing as I have a load of almost 20 amps at just one socket?

Cheers. :D

Each outlet can handle 13a, a ring has a total capacity for 32a.

10 x 200 = 2000w/ 240v = 9a (ish)

12 x 200 = 2400/240v = 10a

I'd be inclined to not worry about it, just don't plug the iron / kettle in the same ring at the same time.

It your worried, I'd be more concerned about the skin cancer issues of over use- so go easy on the tan and follow the guide regarding amount of use. There's no point in having a nice tan and serious health issues in a year or two.

Youve got about 19A there. I wonder how people plug both 13A plugs into a double socket (rated at 13A)

So yes you need to plug into seperate sockets

Cheers Chri5, I personally hate the things and stay out of the sun when I can. :D

The only brown bit of me is my right arm from all the driving I do.
