I was wondering what the correct depth of pile to have in a coir mat entrance well. The well will be about 2m x 1.5m and the surrounding engineered timber floor is 18mm + 2mm undelay ie 20mm.

Will coir not flatten over time and should I go for 24mm depth of pile or will 20mm be OK?

I was thinking that if you were going to catch your foot then it would be best catching it on the more forgiving material ie the coir mat.

Any thoughts?

Most (affordable) coir comes in "set" sizes...

The matwell is usuall "packed" out with ply or whatever so that the coir ends up flush with the surrounding flooring.

Oh - ALL flooring will flatten eventually

...Don`t worry about it
