When you swim underwater LMB your brain is using the oxygen stored in your blood cells. The bits on the pavement are doing just the same until it is depleted and can't be replaced.

Ahh.... but that's the fundamental point conny. Put the piece of shattered brain in an oxygen compatible sterile unit, it's still going to die regardless of oxygen.

anyhow enough of the arguments, the thread is about supernatural experiences.

I'm still not sure.
Very unhappy people that can't rest.???
Not for me - I`m going to have a right laugh ( if it`s possible when I go ) Starting with the Dogging spots around here on the forest  . That`ll put the willies up em

About twenty years ago I visited a local pub with my new girlfriend. We sat at a table in the corner and had the usual few drinks and cigarettes (you could smoke in pubs then). we ran out of cigarettes so I bought a new pack from the machine and sat down again, had another smoke and put the pack of cigs in the centre of the table. We were chatting away, it was a warm evening and I had my shirt sleeves pulled up slightly.

As we were talking I glanced down at my arms and just for a split second I saw I was wearing armbands (those elasticated ones that blokes used to wear to hold there shirt sleeves up), then the image went.

I said to my girlfriend "That was really weird, I just looked at my arms and...". Before I could finish my sentence she said " You were wearing armbands" She had seen it as well.

I then reached for the pack of cigarettes and they were gone. We searched everywhere, pockets, floor, bags but they were nowhere to be seen. No one had been to our table, there was no one sitting near us and the barman had not collected the glasses. We never found them.

When we decided to leave, my girlfriend went to the loo first so I waited for her by the door of the pub. I was just looking at the old pics on the wall when I noticed a sign saying that the bar we were in was haunted and that things often disappeared never to be found.

There is a post from me on that link and it still scares the shat out of me........shivers thinking about it :!:

Over 25 years ago I was working as a SE electrician, that was my original trade, before I started making furniture.
Anyway I was working at a large farmhouse down here in the West of Cornwall. No walls in the place, just studding, and I was working late one Winter evening to get the first fix in. There had been another bloke there that day clearing up, but he'd gone home. Anyway I only had a lead light in this biggish place and I kept on seeing somebody (or something) looking at me round the corners of the outside door, and round bits of the wall etc. Soon as you looked up it was gone, you'd just catch it in the periphery of your vision. I thought it was this guy who had come back for something, but I went out into the yard, and there was only my vehicle there. Nobody else on site. I thought it was kids, so I got my torch and had a look around. Nobody. I went back and carried on for a bit, but this looking thing was getting worse. To be honest I started to get a bit uncomfortable, so I packed up and went home. Worked there for the rest of the job, but never on my own, and never that late.
Anyway I got friendly with a mason who worked down there at that time. A year or two later we did a couple of cottages up together. I said to him one snap time about the job up at the farmhouse, and that it was a strange place. "Yes" he said "I was up there on my own plastering one night, and I kept on seeing something looking round the corners at me"
What it was I don't know to this day, but it was weird, and two of us saw it.
Before someone says "cats" incidentally, I've had that happen a few times and wondered what it was. This was human height, and anyway you can usually catch cats looking after a time or two.

Squeaky's post above reminded me of something. Last year we were in Aberdeen and called in a town centre pub (can't remember the name) for some lunch. Marge went to the toilet and, upon her return, told me quite excitedly that she had seen a 'shadow' in there. No details - she saw it out of the corner of her eye. Just before we left, she mentioned it to the barmaid who said that other people had claimed to have seen it.

I've never seen anything 'paranormal' myself, but I suppose that is the nearest I have come to it. (Naturally, although I was intrigued, I couldn't pluck up the courage to go in myself for a look!)

why does the body lose about errrr 18g??? upon the moment of death... never been explained, no its nothing to do with exhalation, ejection of fluids, of course, people will say its your soul leaving you, but its an interesting and unexplained phenomenon. Theres is definitely more than to our lives than meets the eye.
I agree i've heard about this myself and it's really intresting but unless you could weigh someone and then ask them to promptly drop dead I guess it carn't be proven. Thinking about it that could indeed be carried out in that Dignatas clinic in Switzerland I guess.

Begs the question though...

When in bed with your wife or partner, going like the clappers............
are there 30 odd ghosts all standing over you peering into every nook and cranny.????

Our dead parents and nans could be watching us.

the vast majority of things you "see" out of the corner of your eye are, what "in the trade" are called floaters, or in other words coagulation of vitreous humour. That said whilst I don't believe most of it, I keep an open mind.
