Supplier want's to deliver saturated shed, should that be acceptable ?

Hi, I have just been told by my shed supplier that they will deliver it wet on an open lorry with no covering!
This will make it impossible to waterproof prior to assembly as I had intended to store it in my garage and spray it piecemeal.

Is it normal for shed suppliers to deliver wet sheds with no weather protection in transit ?
Any experience on this anyone

Yes, quite normal - the shed will get wet anyway, once assembled and built. Just wait for a dry day to paint it, later in the year.

Or you could simply let wet shed sections dry out in your garage.

Yup but again given how bad the timber base was this lot already delivered that could take months too.......

So what your telling me is all the shed makers are as bad as each other and couldn't care less about the condition delivered to the customer, makes them sound worse than the double glazing industry or solar installers!

It's not going to take months to dry inside your garage. You could point a fan at it if you want to speed up the drying process.

The wood, will be treated wood, and once built, it should remain dry, so why are you worried about water-proofing it at all?

Well I guess it's going to be a suck it and see job, the only bit I need to waterproof before I put it up is the underside of the floor and its bearers/joists. The weather here is horrendous at the moment anyway, very hard to work outside. The supplier has just confirmed they are stored outside (no cover) at there premises

Because they recommend it, saying there treatment is only anti-rot and does not prevent water absorption by driven rain of which I have a lot!
Added to that I want to store household items that I don't want getting damp e.g. cardboard boxes, magazines, odd bit's of furniture etc

Once built, the floor will remain dry, if set on impervious blocks of some sort, so the floor is not a problem. The walls will get wet, so ensure they are proofed, once it has been built and dried out. put lino or similar, as a floor covering, and ensure a decent job is done of the roof, maybe with gutters.

Well the floor might be affected as its bearers are supported on a 75mm wooden base that itself is resting on weed membrane directly on the soil,
I agree about gutters although expensive I have added them to inherited sheds before with good results, I was intending to do the walls in summer (if it ever comes). Are you thinking of Lino as a moisture barrier ?
I had a shed yonks ago with Lino but have also had fiber matting and nothing at all, none had any problems but then they had gutters!

Well, that is a great way to have it quickly rot!

Sort of - as a means to prevent damp air rising to your furniture and boxes. T'is what I did in mine, and it seems to have worked, boxes, paper are perfectly dry.

If you really want a good shed then build it yourself, it won't cost much more but will be superior if done well. And actually it takes probably no more skill than is involved in throwing up a pre-built one. Though probably needs a couple of tools

I heartily wish I had done so, this doesn't even have any windows to worry about, always the same when you rely upon others, sometimes ok, sometimes not!!
