Hi

I’ve got a detached garage with one single socket and 1 light. Both are fed from 2.5mm 3 core flex (not cable) supported on a catenary wire between the house and the garage (about 3 metres). The flex has a 13amp plug on the supply side which is then plugged into a socket next to the consumer unit(!) Is this flex suitable for this sort of application or should I upgrade to 2.5mm Twin and Earth cable? If so will I need to protect it with conduit as I’ve heard that PVC cable can be affected by UV light?

We’re having a new consumer unit fitted in a couple of weeks so I assume I should ask the electrician to do away with the 13amp socket and replace it with a fused spur or connect the garage power straight to the CU?

Thanks
