What is the recommended way for supplying power and lights to a loft conversion?

spur from lights for the new lights, new ring for power (depending on how much power you need - might be able to use a spur from existing ring)
 
Or you can run your lighting from a fused spur off the power circuit. Or you can run new circuits back to the board. How long is a piece of string?

My point exactly. I was trying to extract a bit more info. Like, how may points (lighting & power) are req'd, and what the general layout is. But if it is a loft conversion, seperate circuits are best if poss.
 
actually the answer to "how long is a piece of string" is

twice as long from the middle to the end
