I am overboarding a wall and will be boarding over a door on this wall as well. I have removed the moulding and just left the wood inside the opening, flush with the current wall. Should I be providing additional fixing points such as battens across the cavity. I am using 12.5mm board and will be attaching it directly to the wall using a combination of nails and plasterboard cement. I am not attaching the plasterboard to a framework as I am also cladding the opposite wall and cannot afford to lose 5" of room width.
