Found a full page of what was effectively an ad in the gas rag for a company called gas-elec.
I seem to remember various threads about a dodgy company with a name like that. Is that indeed this company, or is it a similar name?

It might be legit, that does not mean it can't be dodgy.
There are "legit" companies with big signs "£5 all day parking" and little signs saying "permit only" if you miss the little one, you get towed to the other side of the fence, and you will have to fork out £350 in cash, in addition to your fiver, if you want to drive home.

I thought this was the company that gets people to part with lots of money for the promise of fantastic earnings. Invariably, it seems that people miss the word "potential" that is connected to these earnings.

I've gained lots of work from customers these have been to and done dodgy or shoddy work.

The company may be legit but some of its franchisee's working practice leaves a lot to be desired
