I'm doing some SWA glands into metal and plastic boxes. The metal ones are easy(ish). But when i'm trying to fit the gland into a plastic box it sometimes cracks the box (cheap crap plastic socket box).

Is there a better way of doing these glands? or a different way to put a swa into a plastic fitting?

PVC conduit boxes are softer and less likely to break than traditional patress boxes. This may get arround your problem.

Another method is to put a through round metal conduit box next to what you want to join to and screw the gland into one end of it (this is especially usefull for joining SWA to plastic consumer units).

I would have thought in most cases where you were using SWA you would also want the accessories protected.
