Swaledale Wool Carpet Underlay query / advice needed

I recently purchased some Swaledale 50 Pure Wool Carpet Underlay and am unsure as to which way up it is fitted. It has a plastic film on one side and is bare on the other. Does the plastic side face up or down, or does it not make a difference? Are there any specific rules to follow ofr laying it, or things to wqtch for?Any advice on it's fitting would be appreciated.
