In one room we have 2 pendant lights, with double switch for these, one switch works for one light, however the the other switch for the other light does not, after 2 years of living hear I thought I would fix this... Attached is an image of what it looks like, any ideas what is wrong?

The switch furthest away in the image works, the one closest does not.

All looks OK at the switch, unless any of the screws are loose, or are in contact with the insulation rather than the metal conductor.

To test the switch, turn off the mains, remove one of the red wires from the faulty [closest] switch and put it into the same terminal as the other red also on the closest switch. Turn the power back on and if the faulty light now comes 'on' then the switch is faulty. If it still doesn't work, the problem is elsewhere.

It may be a problem at the pendant itself.

Need a photo of the connections. Lets look at the faulty one first. Although (as Stem said) the problem could be.....elsewhere!

Ok, so its not the wiring on the switch, and I have switched over the wiring on the switch and it is not that, both switches work. Also it is not a blown bulb either... ;-)

Attached is a photo of the pendant wiring...

Aha

So it is a ELV fitting. That round white box is a 12v transformer. That may have gone pop.

If you have a test meter, check if there is 230V between the blue and brown wires that connect to the terminal block (marked L and N). If you dont have a test meter, you could hook up a lamp.
If you do get 230v then you need a new transformer.

PS Turn the power off before poking your fingers in there!

Hooked up a ceiling rose and let there be light! Indeed the Ikea light transformer has gone pop!

Can I buy a new one that will work or is it best to just replace the light?
