I am trying to change a switch which was previously was a single (Controlling a fan, main light, and mirror light) to a double - One switch controlling the fan and mirror, the other the main light.

I know quite a bit about US electrics but Im a little more cautious over here (Im in Ireland although I think the UK is identical).

I personally think I need to put in a jumper from where the commons (brown) are currently to the other commons terminal but I want to see if someone else has experience with UK electrics before trying it.

Attached is where I am now so I am hoping someone has a few suggestions. Thanks!!!

You should as you say be able to just link the two commons together

yes you need to connect the incoming permanent live accross to the other switch with a jumber wire like you suggest.

Thanks guys for such quick responses!!

I take it I should use the same brown wire to keep consistent (ie, there aren't any different guage jumper wires or colors I should use)

What a helpful (and quick) forum!

Just use the same brown wire to link the two common terminals.
Yo may find it easier to spread the feeds between the two common terminals, as you probably will not fit another wire in the existing (rather rammed) common terminal.
