does anyone have current info on a good open vent system boiler (new) that only requires switched live.
problem- custommer would like new boiler. current system is open vent. problem - chipboard flooring throughout and only switched live, earth and neutral to the boiler which is miles away from the cylinder valves and controls. i've heard that Potterton do one that could work but thats it?

I don't think you're going to get a SYSTEM boiler without a permanent live, however the Baxi Solo he conventional boilers do not require a permanent live.

Could fit the solo and make it a sealed system

there's no such thing as an open vent system boiler. Are you an rgi????

sorry an open vented conventional boiler would do the trick. just do not want to rip up chipboard flooring to replace the current three core L,N, E to five core.

Baxi Solo should do the trick, as it doesn't need pump overun either, so S/L,N & E from wiring centre would be ok.

Run a seperate three core supply through the roof space. ;) ;)

Why would you have to rip up the floor to run a cable?????????

terraced house, boiler on one end and controls and tank the other. customer does not want exposed cables if possible. asked the question to try and get round the problem but if no alternative then they would hace to be surface mounted and trunked.

You could hide the cable below the floor quicker than you could surface run it. That is what rip snorters and nail guns are for.....speed
