T8/T5 conversion kits

Hello fellow professionals,
Have any of you any experience of the above with regard to energy savings/tube longlivety etc etc etc I am talking about the adaptors that just plug and play.......

We tried a set on a twin 58W T8 fitting and they failed quite quickly.
They were the type that slot on the end of a T5 tube to make it the same length as a T8 tube and also a starter to go with them.

Had a lot of these fitted about 5 year ago.
Many failed and they have all now been replaced with proper fittings.
