hi if I need to take a few mm off some interior 6 panel eggshell type doors, can I use a circular saw or am I better off using an electric plane. It looks like it will only be to reduce the height between 3-7mm

I'd use a plane for such a small amount. It will give a neater finished edge too, as long as you keep it nice and flat. Gently rub sand paper over once you have planed it, as the edge can be exceptionally sharp!
