This is my first post here so I hope you'll forgive me if this is in the wrong place or for any faux pas.
The situation is this. I have moved into a Victorian House, all is good and well. I was told when I was looking around the property that the fireplace in the sitting room had been put in by the previous occupants but had been deemed unsafe (I think maybe something to do with the chimney, I could be wrong)and so had been decommissioned by a registrered tradesman.
Now I'm sure many of you know these Victorian houses can get a little chilly and I'm prone to feeling the cold anyway.
The fireplace is still in place but as far as I know doesn't work, in all honesty I've not tried it. It's rather unsightly and also I'd like something that can throw out a bit more heat than something that is just purely "decorative". I was wondering if its possible for me to take this fireplace out and replace with something that does the job a little more effectively? If so what would my options be?
Oh, further to that I will shortly be having something to have a look at my Chimney so may have some further info regarding that for you in due course!
