tanalised timber

what is tanalised timber - I've seen a nice fence panel that has a green tinge to it, the man in the shop said it was tanalised. I'm now looking for a tongue and groove gate with the same green tinge and he said that I couldn't get a tanalised tongue and groove gate.

Question - is all tanalised timber have a green tinge and is he right about not being able to get a tongue and groove tanalised gate

your wood yard can tannalise any timber you like[or send it away to be done]

its done in a big pressure vessle under a vacuum

having said all that all though the protection will work for many years the colour will change from a green to a natural wood with a hint of brown within 2 years
so its only a temporary thing
