How tight should the female end of a tap connector with a rubber washer in be tightened on a 1/2 male fitting or a iso valve with 1/2inch at one side of the valve? As tight as can by hand and a quarter to half a turn? To avoid over thighting the rubber. Though this is more of an issue I believe if going on to a normal iso that is not machined flat so can cut in to the rubber washer. Thanks.

Don't fit it directly to an isolation valve designed for a compression fitting / olive ,unless you file the tapered edge to a wide flat . Or fit a flexi tap tail adapter into the isolation valve.
Tighten with a spanner until resistance is firm ,then one half turn further is plenty.

If straight onto an ISO then do this to it first with a flat file, it's quick and easy as they're soft brass

Any flexi connector I connect then it's as tight as poss by hand and then 1/4-1/2 turn and test.
