My bath taps are now getting loose and have a poor "action" so sto speak, So im going to replace the inserts....Firstly are these new ceramic quarter turn taps the way forward, and are they a straight swap for the older rubber washer type insert (bearing in mind the dimensions match).

Secondly my original taps have a threaded cap fitting that sits over the insert and screws down onto it. as my taps are 1/2" inserts will this cap thread be a standard size for most fittings.....

Thanks

Depending on your water type, ceramic can be worse that traditional screw down type. Ceramic cannot be serviced, screw down can be greased and washers replaced. 1/4 turn Ceramic can be easier to operate for older or disabled users so each have their own uses, it's a personal preference I think.
Not always a straight swap, no.

Not really suitable for retro-fit. Fit new taps if you want to go the ceramic route.
