I had to trim the one tail down so I could go to the left and they wouldn't clash with each other.
the cutter squished the pipe a bit when I tightened the finger screw so it's really soft copper..

now for the back story.....

I fitted my kitchen sink this weekend and got away with not much more than a dribble on the kitchen floor when a hot pipe from the bathroom gurgled after being empty for 20 mins..

all went well with only a minor spray where i forgot to tighten one nut on an elbow..

besides that, no sign of leaks

until today..
running a cable for my dishwasher i noticed that the nuts to the copper tails that came with the tap seemed to be weaping a tiny bit..
there's water round the top of the nut and a single solitary drip that was waiting to fall.. ( after watching it for 5 mins, it didn't so it's a very slow weap.. )

I tightened them as much as i dare when I put them in.

so is it time for some boss white or whatever you use these days?

no.. finger tight and a half turn with the wrench.. as I've seen recomended on here before..

Or a smear of boss white or similar.....'potable water' type on the cold water. :)

Potable. schmotable  It` s "wholesome " now ...and anyways it`s your house and a DIY forum ...so if ptfe wont do it ....Boss White and a few strands of Hemp. SOD the Nanny State

CJ - if still no joy, you could always solder a short stump of ordinary copper onto the tail and compress onto this.

Or (I await the usual derision) - replace with a couple of flexis
