Nice quick job I thought, to fix the dripping tap in the kitchen...

Initial stubbornness overcome with WD40 and a bit of force, the tap valve unscrewed and was wobbly, but would not pull out. Some more twisting and pulling and still wouldn't come. I then decided to screw it back in, but this undid the thread within the valve itself and the top half came off, leaving a nut sticking out, as wobbly as the valve had been.

Now I can neither screw the tap valve back together fully, nor get the other part of it out of the tap. I've tried pulling with pliers, but no better.

What do I do now? :)

Ah, the washer was just so perished that it was holding the rest of the valve in. Different pliers got a better grip and it's out now. :)
