Hi Guys,

I need to replace the plasterboard on my little boys ceiling, the walls etc are all fine and are decorated( painted) I was thinking about battening the ceiling to get it level and boarding it with tapered 9.5 boards and using paper jointing tape and easy fill for the joints

Is this a reasonable way of doing it… I get what you do with the tapered edges but I can’t figure how you do the ends and the other edge as it’s square?

Im trying to make as least mess as possible
Hence not skimming it? Hope
This sort of makes sense?
Thanks
Jake

You can get 4 sided tapered boards.
Not sure who would sell but I'd try CCF ltd.

9.5mm is a bit whippy so you are better off with 12.5mm
Hire a board lifter if like me you are on your own.

Tape and jointing on tapered edge is not that easy vs just fitting standard board and skimming

Depends how good your filling skill is. Plenty of tutorials out there on the subject.
