At Openreach (BT) engineers still have to climb ladders as singleton workers and are expected to drill what I think is a 16mm hole into masonry to install an eyebolt up at the eaves of a house, then to cleat dropwire down/along walls at what ever height is necessary using a 3 stage ladder.
Plenty of guys have pointed out that a ladder is access equipment only not a working platform but somehow BT have justified that its OK.
Then again, we are not allowed on flat roofs unless we are trained, and then we have to use crawl boards etc. But you'd think Sky would have similarly trained engineers.
