TD 250T Extractor fan problem

Hi,

I recently fitted a S&P TD250T extractor fan for my shower room. All seemed well for 2 days until the timer didn't work and the fan kept running.

On inspection in the loft space where it is installed, the electrical control box on the fan had water in it. This box is sealed with a rubber seal and was fitted correctly. I took the fan back and exchanged for a new one.

Now 3 weeks later I have the same problem. It seems to work OK once the electrics have dried out but does anyone have any suggestions as to why/how water is getting into the control unit. In addition any ideas how to solve the problem.

I am considering drilling a couple of drain holes in the control box to let any water out.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

This is the question. You should not have to modify the fan in any way to stop this and doing so will invalidate the warrenty. I'm not familiar with the design (internal/external connection box) but it could be either:

-External to the fan, ie being dripped on from above.
-Poorly fitted duct with humid air escaping
-Poor design with the moisture coming from within.
