telesopic flues

When installing telescopic flues and for boilers on houses with thin walls. On the smallest setting the telescopic bit that has the sealing tape on falls outside the wall cavity. Is this OK thanks for any help.

Instructions will say whether the flue can be cut so seal is not opem to elements
