Hi,

Quick question - had someone pick up these for me:

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TLC517.html

Slipped my mind, that this has a 16amp moulded plug attached.... now I don't have that little yellow box to convert it / power it

Would it be 'ok' to cut off the plug and wire on a 13amp fused, normal plug top ???

I believe its 240v ??

Would it be better to use this: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/GW240slash16slash3C.html and add a bit of cable from it, to a normal 13amp plug top ???

If it's 230v then you shouldn't need a 'yellow box', AKA 110v transformer. Presumably the plug on your set is blue?

If you can confirm the set is designed for 230v then it should be fine to attach a 13A plug, but you wont need a 13A fuse judging by the lamp wattages detailed on the TLC site. 3A should be more than adequate.

I'd go for the latter as you can then make an extension lead to get from the house to wherever you are having the lights..

ahh yes - forgot that 'yellow' is 110v - the plug is indeed blue and therefore 240v :)

decided to ask them to pickup:

to make it quicker to connect and save my 'warranty' too :)

Thanks for your quick reply.

Thanks BAS - this will be contained 'indoors' in a marquee/tent and is planned for 'one night only' - going forward, it would be attached to an MK waterproof socket :)

Thanks Col - that makes sense - although will be supplied from an extension lead for this temp measure :)

Cheers,
