Temporary floor - over screed? Seal and/or paint?

Hello
We've moved into a new place with a hideous and smelly carpet. It needs to be ripped out ASAP.
Underneath is screed

What can we do as a temporary solution to seal or cover it while we decide on carpet/other floor covering?
It's a bedroom and hallway.
PVA sealant?
