Hi,
Has anyone ever encountered a ceiling made of Tentest (Essex) board?
The ceiling in our hallway look like a regular smooth plastered ceilings, but it is horribly bowing and sagging between joists, and from when smoke alarms were fitted a few years back, we have been told they are made out of tentest board - some kind of spongy wood fibreboard.
They currently look terrible and a probably also a firetrap/deathtrap, so I was planning to pull the boards down over one weekend and get plasterboard put up in it's place - I'd prefer this to overboarding as it will also allow me to fit some insulation in as well.
Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this board and whether there are any tips of tricks for removing them?
Thanks
Rich
