testing a showerforce pump

could i test my pump by disconnecting my hot and cold feed to my shower and running the water through to see if the pump will work because the pump is only coming on if i disconnect the cold feed from the shower .weird as it sounds ,i want to know if its a faulty shower or pump

you can do disconnect it from the shower.
