Just replaced all of the plumbing and heating in my house except for some existing radiators/pipework. New boiler will be pressurised and I would like to test for leaks before I have the boiler fitted. I have fitted an additional 8 litre expansion vessel in the airing cupboard to assist the system boilers built in vessel. Is it advisable to fill the system to mains pressure to test/flush?

Many thanks

I always air test new systems before filling, then when I know its ok I fill and flush with cleansing chemical.

Air compressor. Slowly raising pressure. Just don´t whack it up to more than 1 bar.

I always raise to 1 bar then have a quick listen for 'hissing'. If ok I then pressurise to 3.5bar, so I know my pipe work etc will take the pressure before a 3 bar prv opens ;)
