    Hi

Does anyone know if the mains connection to the control unit can be just Neutral and Live or does it need the Earth connection too ? The Earth connection doesn't seem to go to the psu within the control panel

    Thanks

    Live,neutral & earth.
It's a Plastic control panel box but you should always connect earth to terminal block.

What is connected to the earth connection on the main board above the battery connections?

The Earth appears to terminate at the connector block so it seems the Earth is redundant ?

The earth is not redundant. The earth terminal on the main board immediately above the battery connections should be connected to the earth in the mains supply cable. Can you post a photo of what you have got?

It stops at the fuse point as that’s were you wire it to the mains, only the veritas has no earth as such.

Thanks guys, appreciate that as it seems to clear the issue up. Think i was getting confused looking at the wrong diagram in the manual.
    Sorry

This may, or may not be the case in your instance! :)
But, as every mains socket and FCU has an earth connection, it is considered best practice for fixed appliances such as extractor fans, mains thermostats, or alarms to be supplied with a cable wih an earth.
This means that a fully plastic item that doesn't need an earth connection, may still have an earth terminal - just to avoid a loose earth lead flapping about the enclosure, possibly causing a short.
And due to this possibility, manufacturers will often say that the device 'must' have an earth connection, even if it isn't used!
