It's fairly simple - the more attractive you make the UK, as a destination for these migrants, the more will risk their necks crossing the channel to get here. Word on just how welcoming we are, spreads, and gets back very quickly. Stop the hotels, stop feeding them so well, closely restrict their freedom, certainly no jobs on the side.

Stop putting them in hotels, give them basic food, contain them in guarded compounds. If they are allowing 50% to stay, that is a ridiculously high percentage, I would expect only 1 in 100 to be genuine refugees. Process them within a week, stop the endless right to appeal, and send the rest directly back, to where they claim to have come from. Where they have come from, should be obvious, from the language they speak, and their accents.

We have lots of disused industrial buildings in the UK. Lots could be converted as basic, secure accommodation for these immigrants, and they would still be a major step up, from the squalid conditions, living in a tent, around Calais, that they are used to.
