the bleed valve on the top of stelrad is leaking out water?

hiya all,
my sister thought she would bleed the radiator, but she seems to have over twisted the bleed valve and when she tries to twist it closed it just clicks and continues to twirl around and the a little fountain of water shoots off. Needless to say its freezing so I have turned off this radiator, will this harm the rest of the central heating??

Any suggestions on how to repair this bleed valve??

As you have stemmed the flow and presumably can relax now, are you able to unscrew the bleed valve?
You may see that the screw thread has stripped (its only brass) - and in which case a new one can be screwed in.
Is the bleed valve held in its own hexagonal nut, which is in turn screwed into the radiator?

Hiya John,
firstly before I start can I apologise for my lack of knowlege and the terms i use. The bleed valve is on the top of the radiator there is a plastic casing and a square in the centre with the slit in it for turning, These are screwed into a steel like nut, again sorry for my lack of knowlege. The water seems to be coming out of this steel nut?? So what can I do to stop this leak.

that is it!! So how easy is it to replace it? is it easy to do or will I have to get a professional to do it?

You'll just need a spanner or socket or adjustable wrench that will fit across the flats of the vale. It screws out and the new one screws in. It is sealed with an O ring so you don't need to mess with sealing it.

You'll need to turn off the radiator on both sides before you start. Don't forget to count the number of quarter-turns on the lockshield side of the radiator, and turn it back on by the same number when you finish.
