Thanks for the memory jog space cat. I also recall reading about fly agrics use by shamens in the past to "get in touch with the spirits" but for me I'm happy to just eat the edible ones, puffball sauted in butter is gorgeous. Field mushrooms are also much better than shop brought pap even though the two species are very closely related agaricus mushrooms.
Nature then throws us a swerveball with a poisoness agaricus species (agaricus xanthodermus) and supposedly the best mushroom is a relative of the death cap (amanita caesarea )
