Well, that RAF plane carrying the PPE from Turkey. Wonder if we'll find out the reasons for the delay.

I thought that was well established. We didn't fill in the export paperwork until Sunday and it needed governmental sign off before it could be shipped.

Hopefully the other two plane loads will be following shortly.

Certainly not in any newspaper accounts I've read., yes I know approval wasn't sought till the weekend but it's Thursday now, also some reports suggested Turkey wasn't supplying the goods. No there's a great deal we don't know about this saga.

One Whitehall source claimed that while health officials had placed the order, it had not been appreciated that – like many other countries – Turkey had placed extra restrictions on the export of medical equipment as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
Oh and it seems some of the paperwork was only filed on Monday.

We'll never find out all the details but that the paperwork wasn't finished on time is pretty clear.

The order was placed (who knows when), it was promoted on Saturday as arriving the next day. On Monday the paperwork to export it was completed and it went through customs on Tuesday. Then arrived on Wednesday.

Isn't this the shipment they said would arrive last Friday?

I heard some arrived this morning but no way that's 80tons well not on the aircraft it flew in on which i believe has a payload just over 35tons

There was a muttering that the PPE was actually ordered on early Sunday. The brief gave the impression that there was an RAF plane waiting to bring it back. My impression parked up in Turkey. Should have known better.

Tory theme tune maybe - and ours

hope you don’t mind me chipping in fellas ....... and ladies.
maybe the plane wouldn’t start , have the same trouble with mine sometimes.

TV news is saying the full order wasn`t completed by Turkey and that there are other aircraft waiting to fly out to collect the shortfall.

From IT's link:

But Ankara has been accused of holding up exports to other European countries, including to Italy, Spain and Belgium this month, often leading to high-level diplomatic intervention to secure the supply.

Downing Street blamed an “unprecedented demand for PPE globally” for some of the difficulties faced by the UK and other countries. “There are challenges in the supply of PPE, there have been problems in ensuring that PPE gets to the right place at the right time,” the prime minister’s spokesman
