They were Irish Travellers ,Tinkers or Gypo's... call what you will. They've been here since the year dot afaik.
And stealing since that time also.
But irish land laws are strict hence they move over to the british lands where land laws are soft.

Then of course you have the unpaid police force here also who can shift them on when necessary with some friendly persuasion. Like a nice piece of hickory.

Although stating that you seem to have missed my point.

It was "How long have they been over here?" Here, i.e. Britain.

Now they have gone home, which you appear to think is a good thing for immigrants, you seem to object.

A gypo has no home. They live on the road and squat on other peoples property when it suits them.

There are many reasons why people become homeless and I have experienced this at first hand. What a little knowledge does. I am sure that you would have noticed that as good as all are white. Remember your Christian [maybe not]. Isn't it funny that illegal immigrants that have been allowed to stay and breed here can sleep in homes that they have no right to. A sense of priority is missing.

As has been said - people become homeless for various reasons, and I don't think we are the ones to judge them for how life has treated them. Putting up spikes in the corners of buildings and thus treating them like unwelcome pidgeons is just cruel.

This is a brilliant post.

That way it is written makes me think it was a speech made by one of those internet random speech generators.

First people tried to make computers that could mimic people, now we have people that mimic computers.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, there are kinky barstewards in that part of London who pay certain types of women big money to walk all over them while they lie on beds like that.

Do you invite then to come and kip down in your porch?

This discussion is just racist and polemic, I don't even know why I bother.... The point is not that we will all start and invite homeless people to sleep on our porches, but that putting up spikes to 'deter' them is the wrong way. These are human beings we're talking about, 'is all I wanted to say.

Us pointing fingers at each other is going to help no one - maybe we should all just make a small donation to a homeless shelter and stop fussing.
