The UK government didn’t want you to see this report

This plastic is being discharged into the ocean at increasing volumes, while the use of fossil fuels is further driving our climate emergency further increasing the environmental pressure.
It's deliberately thrown in rivers in many countries, they use them as waste disposal. It needs a change of human behaviour a lot more than anything else.

There's just no regulation that can overcome this kind of mass stupidity. We need mass coordinated action, putting sanctions on countries that do this to us all.

This is the source of the plastic in the sea, not us and not manufacturers. It's all deliberate, filthy animals are ruining the planet. But that's probably racist, perhaps we should ask them nicely and respect their disgusting culture?

And they can say the same to us. Is it racist to say the British are "deliberate, filthy animals are ruining the planet?" Should we expect other countries to "respect (our) disgusting culture?"

Go and tie a flag to it.

India is a large country and cannot say I have been everywhere, but it fills me with dread, every time I have to go on business.

Mumbai, Bangalore, Dehli, hyderabad - absolute cess pits.

Mumbai is by far the worse.

There's a Google Earth game, zoom right out of India then drop the Streetview man anywhere. The challenge is to find a spot where you can't see any dumped rubbish while turning round on the spot. It's very difficult to find somewhere.

They just don't care. To hell with everyone attitude. Yes, every country has problems but India takes it to a whole new level.

Feel scammed yet

Correct.
This is the one thing we can easily fix without drastically changing our lifestyle.

Are you sure it'll be so easy?

Get rid of all single use plastic.
Since the 1950s, the world has produced more than nine billion metric tons of plastics, more than half of which was brought to market after 2000. And we can expect these materials to stick around for thousands of years. Certain uses for plastic are not only reasonable but important, such as surgical gloves. But these cases make up a small fraction of single-use plastic. More than half of non-fiber plastic, which excludes synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon, comes from plastic packaging alone, much of which is for single-use items.

Microplastics are a whole new ballgame.
