There was a bit of a miscommunication between our builder and the architect for our extension, where the builder has put the RSJs flush with ceiling, leaving the bottom of the gable roof below the top of the steel.

The steel will be covered by tiles and flashing, but I’m concerned about insulation and how cold the steel will be given it won’t have any insulation externally, and only fire board internally.

Is there something I can do to improve the situation? Stick celotex/rockwool in the cavities, or do I need to go extreme and cover it with aerogel. Or do I not need to bother with anything?

Mmm.. Put it all on the cold side; continuous skin of insulation room side, as near to 150mm as you can get
