You can get Thermalite Trenchblock that can be used in the ground. They are the full thickness of the wall so you don't have to worry about backfilling the cavity. Hi-Strength 7, Party Wall and Shield blocks can also be used as foundation blocks, although you should check the ground conditions for presence of sulphates.
