Thermalite or breeze block - drilling and wall plugs

Hi, please help a DIY newbie with some basics..

I need to out up some shelves on conservatory wall. Walls are made of thermalite or breeze block on internal side. It is plastered and painted over.

From what I know, both breeze block and thermalite are of different construction. I don't know for sure what I actually have in the conservatory. Is there any plugs that will work with both? I have fischer duopower fixings if they are suitable.

For drilling into breeze blocks, do I need to find the "solid part". If so, does a standard stud decector find it?

If you can hammer a nail straight into block and remove with a claw hammer it’s thermalite and requires specialist fixings for holding any weight .
Breeze block will require drilling and take your wall plugs .

The Fischer type are very good .
