Hello all.
I am looking for some advice with a problem regarding my thermecon 40/60 oil boiler.
Recently the room with the boiler in filled with a horrible smell, kind of like burning paint smell. Not nice at all. I called in an expert who examined the unit and reported that nothing is wrong with it. He did give his best guess to the cause though. He concluded that it was a particuly windy day and that the wind effected the pilot light ignition and caused a back flow (or something similer) and that the smell was created by that.
The problem then did not happen again for a few weeks and then sure enough it has been rather windy lately and the same nasty smell has happened a few times since. I phoned the expert up and asked how this could be fixed. His reply was he was not sure as the flu would be the problem and he was not sure if it could be changed for a different one.
So, does anybody know if there are different flues availible with shielding on to stop wind causing this problem and if so where to get one from. Or likewise if it is possible to put a cone type of arrangement around the existing flu so the wind can not effect it but will still let the flu suck in air/expell as it needs?
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks
