I am trying to make a training setup to teach users how to program a Thermoplus AS1. I have fitted it to a portable box and it works fine on its own, BUT I want to connect an indicator light (230v) to it so that when the heating would be on the light will light up. However I am having no luck with this.

Does anyone know what terminals the light should be connected to.

Link wire between Live (L) and Com (2)
Live on indicator lamp connected to On (4)
Neutral on indicator lamp connected to Neutral (N)

....though this might be something you really want to understand, if you are training people in its use!
....and PATest it!

Thanks - Normally I have no problem with this - this is the third training setup I have done and the only one I had problems with. Yes it will be PAT tested which I am qualified to do. We are only training end users, so the wiring is irrelevant to them.

May I ask @Wildways why? It seems a rather old thermostat to be training people how to use. I will admit when I changed the old Horstmann programmable in my old house to a Flomasta I had to tuck the instructions behind the new one to remind me how to use it, it was not as intuitive as the Hosrtmann.

Today my thermostat has a dial, simple turn it up or down, OK tap the centre and all sorts of options, but normally set them up on the PC, day to day, as I walk towards the thermostat it lights up, showing both target and current, and I turn dial to alter.

It intrigues me, who needs training?

I could imagine a circumstance, where a housing association (or similar) may install hundreds of a particular thermostat en masse.
...in that case it would make sense for someone to go around and demonstrate the product to groups of residents.

I work for a housing association, and we have a large variety of different controllers. One of the biggest issues is tenants who cannot set them right and we get many maintenance calls that are just due to not knowing what to do. So I have built a training setup for each type of controller (pic of 2 samples attached) so our staff can familiarize themselves with each one and how to set it so they can demonstrate to tenants easily. Or even take the training box to them and let them practice without possibly upsetting their real one. We have over 1300 properties and about 8 different controllers. Each training setup is connected to power with a removable kettle plug lead.
