I am having a new shower fitted and will be getting a rain shower, a hand rail and a thermostatic tap. I will be buying all three items seperately as I can't find a combination I like as a package.
I like this style:

but will it work with a rain shower and riser rail? Can an adapter be bought so I control which one to switch on?
Or do I need to buy a completely different type of tap with three knobs like this one (which seem rare to find!)?

I am not really sure what the difference is between a thermostatic valve or a thermostatic mixer as they look the same in all the pictures I have seen.
