my central heating radiators have thermostatic valves fitted a few years ago. Most work fine but here are a few which "stick" in one position. I can easily remove head etc and spring the plunger, this is ok, but within a short while thr valve " sticks" again. Can this be remedided or do I need to replace whole valve assembly? I also use wd40 and just work the pin in and out till it is moving freely. The problem is that during the summer months due to the temperature the pin will fully depressed and seizes up. After a bit of wd40 I find they are ok over the winter as they will be moving in and out regularly.
I find it is not the pin but the jumper that sticks and WD40 has no effect.
I recommend plenty of inhibitor to help lubricate the jumper and seating.
Cheap valves are more prone to faults too.
